Does my Statement of Attainment expire?

Learn about Statement of Attainment expiration.

Updated over a week ago

The Statement of Attainment that you receive from the Australian Institute of Food Safety doesn’t have an expiry date.

Food Safety Supervisor Students Note:

While your Statement of Attainment does not have an expiry date, according to Food Standard 3.2.2A, Food Safety Supervisors "must have recent, relevant and consistent skills and knowledge to handle food safety, particularly high-risk food", to ensure the quality and consistency of food safety practices at food businesses, and to minimise the risk of food-borne illnesses.

This means that your Statement of Attainment must be issued by a Registered Training Organisation within the last 5 years*, and renewed every 5 years, by completing a Food Safety Supervisor Course.

We recommend you keep an eye out for any legislative changes that might affect you or your business, including new units of competency being released. This is because it’s your responsibility to check the legislation for your state to find out if, and when, you need to refresh your food safety training.
