Identifying Peanut Allergens

Use this fact sheet to find out how "peanut" may appear on a food label and common foods or products that often contain peanut.

Unsurprisingly, peanuts are key allergens under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. Along with tree nuts, milk, eggs, sesame seeds, fish, shellfish, soy, lupin and wheat, key allergens cause 90 percent of allergic reactions to food in Australia.  

Food businesses and workers are responsible for ensuring the food they serve is safe and free from contamination — this includes allergen risks. Use this handy fact sheet to find out how "peanut" may be listed on ingredient labels and common foods and products that may contain peanut.
