What's been recalled?
Coles supermarkets in QLD and NSW have issued an urgent recall of chorizo sausages this week due to fears of E.coli contamination.
Which sausages are affected?
The affected sausages are Hans Spanish Chorizo sausages in 250g packages with an expiration date of 1st December 2017.
The sausages were being sold at Coles supermarkets throughout New South Wales and Queensland.
What should I do if I have these sausages at home?
If you have these sausages at home, return them to the store immediately for a full cash refund. Be sure to dispose of any other foods that may have come into contact with the sausages, and clean and sanitise surfaces and containers thoroughly.
If you have consumed the product and are concerned for your health, seek medical advice.
What are the symptoms of e.Coli poisoning?
Symptoms of E.coli begin 1 to 10 days after consuming the affected product, and last for 5 to 10 days.
The most common symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal pain and fever. Some people may experience nausea and vomiting although this is rare.
In severe cases, affected people may experience bloody diarrhea, dehydration or kidney failure.
Pregnant women, young children, the elderly and people suffering from other illnesses are most likely to develop complications from e.Coli poisoning.
