Introduction to Food Safety Course
Getting the basics right early is important for workers starting out in the food industry. This user-friendly course will teach food workers all the skills and knowledge that they need to prepare and handle food safely. The lessons are jam-packed full of useful information and hints and tips, and provide a good grounding of what legal responsibilities are involved in handling and serving food.
Unlike the other courses on the AIFS website, this course is 100% online. There is no requirement for a Supervisor Report which means that it is also suitable for those who wish to start a career in the food industry but who do not have access to a commercial kitchen for practical assessments.

Learn about food safety laws in Australia at a national, state and local level. Understand the legal responsibilities you will have in the workplace as a Food Handler.
Understanding Food Safety
Develop an in-depth understanding about food poisoning - what causes it and the dangers involved. We'll also take a look at the risks and symptoms of food poisoning and intolerances.
Maintaining a Clean Workplace
Cleaning and sanitising techniques, pest control, waste disposal, waste minimisation and reporting requirements are all covered in the Introduction to Food Safety course.
Excellent personal hygiene is essential for food handlers. In this course, we'll explore requirements for clothing, behaviour, reporting illness, hand washing and moving around the workplace.
